This morning we had our special math guest, Mrs. Lorway, visit us with some cuisenaire rod activities. We looked at pattern cores, and how to organize and compare length combinations. We enjoyed small group reading time before recess, then began a new whole class read-aloud: Pippi Longstocking! After recess we continued with literacy centers, then worked on bending our elbow to better control the badminton racquet in phys ed. In the afternoon the students talked about orchestral instruments, and how their size relates to their pitch in music. We had a poetry party with our neighbour class to learn a new Bossy R Pirate song, then finished the day drawing portraits of one another with our grade four buddies.
