This morning we learned and edited our message for some new chunks that go on "O Street" on our Sound City -- ow and oa. We did a writing sample reflecting on our time at Arts Commons. WOW, have the students ever grown as writers! I am so proud of their hard work! After recess we did some word work with the -all word family, as well as oa and ow. We played Doubles Bump in math, then started learning netball skills with a guest expert in phys ed. (Today we played an octopus game that helps us practice pivoting on the spot). In the afternoon we began a new round of literacy centers, then the grade ones played a game about keeping the steady beat in music. We finished our day with social studies, working on our urban/rural art project, and a delicious birthday celebration!

Planning for 2016-17 (School Council Meeting Thursday, April 14!)
We are just starting the process of organizing for the 2016-17 school year. This is a long process that starts with the system budget, which we received yesterday. We have worked closely as a staff to come up with some possible scenarios that we can afford given our funding and our projected student enrollment. We can have anything we want but we can’t have everything we want! At the School Council meeting Thursday, April 14 we will be sharing possible scenarios and seeking feedback about what parents value (French in Div I, Power Hour, Class Size, Maintaining straight grades (vs. blended grades), Idea Lab). If you would like to have input, please join us at the Council Meeting. Due to tight timelines this will be the only forum to provide input.
Student Led Conferences
Student led conferences will be held on April 21 and 22.
System opens April 11th - Please use the My CBE Account to book a 15 minute interview. Plan to spend 30 minutes before or after your scheduled time with your child leading you through their learning.
April 21st 4:00pm to 8:00pm
April 22nd 8:00am to 12:30pm – No School
Stop Drop and Read
Bring a stuffy on Wednesday and a good book. Listen for stop and read times. We will also be having a teacher exchange where teachers read to different classes.
