This morning we finished up our 100th Day Celebration Centers. We had a great time with these, especially building structures with 100 cups! The students' 100-shape placemat creations are beautiful and colourful -- thank you again for the help with prepping the shapes! In French the students began to learn about a cultural tradition: playing the spoons! After snack (and reading some more of Pippi Longstocking's silly adventures), we finished the morning with PoWer Hour. Enjoy a restful weekend!

Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities
- We are trying out literacy centres a little differently this week, having our neighbouring classes work separately, for smaller groups. Volunteer support would be GREATLY appreciated! Our class is doing literacy centres Monday 1:00 - 1:45, Tuesday 10:45 - 11:30, Wednesday 9:15 - 10:00, Thursday 1:30 - 2:15, and Friday 9:15 - 10:00. Please email me ([email protected]) if any of these times work…but drop-ins are always welcome, too!
- We would love to have morning reading volunteers to share books with students one-on-one, from 8:30-9:00 any day that it works for you!
- Thank you SO much for all of the help and support you consistently offer. I am amazed by (and extremely grateful for) the volunteer response we get in this classroom!
Byblo’s Visit – Feb. 25th
This is for Grade ones and not kindergarten as stated on the school calendar. Please consider contributing a healthy filling for this fun and interactive nutrition presentation. The students will be learning about the four food groups and balanced meals, then creating their own nutritious pita pockets. Please email Elysa or Tara if you would like to sign up for a particular item. We would like to avoid nut-based products for allergy precautions, please. Thank you so much for your support and contributions!
Filling suggestions (that have not yet been 'claimed') include:
- sliced tomatoes
- lean meats
- chickpeas or beans
- guacamole
- sliced fruit
