This morning we shared a very fun book, "Suddenly..." which inspired our journal writing. We began writing our own suspenseful 'suddenly...' stories and I must say, as a whole, it is the best writing I have seen the students do! Go grade ones! We began a new round of literacy centers. This week we are focusing on the "un" family, and reviewing our digraphs (th, sh, and ch -- but this time we have to sort them). In the afternoon we played "Guess My Way" using the snap cubes to visually review our 'ten buddies' facts. The students used the snap cubes to work on a problem about how many vanilla and chocolate cupcakes my birthday party guests ate, and tried to find more than one possible solution. In music the students continued learning about instrument families, including woodwinds. We finished our day learning a song, "Ten Buddies," to help us remember our make-ten facts. We even challenged ourselves to 'act it out' with our snap cube chunks as we sang!

Daily Challenge
We are focusing on digraphs (sh, th, and ch) to review this week. Can you think of a full sentence that has as many digraph words as possible? For example...The thick chewing gum stuck to the chunky shoe.
