This morning we learned how 'ai' and 'ay' make the long a sound, and edited our message for these chunks. We read and solved some riddles, then wrote our own riddles in our journals using the 5 senses. We are going to try and guess which classmate wrote which riddle about themselves! After recess we did some word work with ai/ay, and the '-ot' word family. We learned a VERY fun new math game to help us with our fact fluency, called "Salute." In phys ed we learned and played some games to practice 3 important body shapes in gymnastics -- pike, tuck, and straddle -- and we practiced safety landings. In the afternoon we started a new round of literacy centers, then the students continued watching and discussing Peter and the Wolf in music. We finished our day sorting a number of different foods (both healthy and 'sometimes treats), into our very own supermarket. The students did a great job working as a team! We're going to continue some math fun with this "P.o.W.er Market" tomorrow!

Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities
- We will be continuing literacy centers in our smaller groups as last week was successful for both classes. Volunteer support is always greatly appreciated! Our class is doing literacy centers Monday 1:00 - 1:45, Tuesday 1:30 - 2:15, Wednesday 10:45 - 11:30, Thursday 1:30 - 2:15, and Friday 9:15 - 10:00. Please email me ([email protected]) if any of these times work…but drop-ins are always welcome, too!
- We would love to have morning reading volunteers to share books with students one-on-one, from 8:30-9:00 any day that it works for you!
- Thank you SO much for all of the help and support you consistently offer. I am amazed by (and extremely grateful for) the volunteer response we get in this classroom!
