This morning we edited our message for many word wall words. I am so proud of the students' careful printing! We talked about our favourite things to do with our dads, and wrote about why we love them. After recess we began crafting our Father's Day gifts, and learned a fun new game, "Treasure," in phys ed. After lunch we looked at using number lines to find the difference between 2 numbers (subtraction), and learned how to play Difference Face-Off. We really enjoyed this! After a grade one music superstorm with Mrs. Dennill, we finished our day with a historical Calgary sing-along and preparation for tomorrow's exciting field trip!
Urban Community Tour
Tuesday is going to be a full and memorable day for the grade ones! I'm thrilled to see a lovely forecast of 20 degrees. Please ensure your child is dressed for the weather with hat and sun protection, and wearing comfortable, sturdy walking shoes. Students will need water bottles, an easy-to-eat, low mess lunch and at least 2 snacks with all necessary utensils. Thank you for helping to prepare the grade ones for this exciting day!
Mail Pockets
No new mail went home today, but please ensure field trip forms are in by tomorrow morning!
Volunteer Request:
We would appreciate 1-2 more volunteers to walk with us for our final seasonal trip to the Fish Creek Ridge. This leisurely walk and observational sketching trip will be at 1:30 on Thursday, June 23. Thank you!
Packing Up
I cannot believe how fast this year has flown, but here we are! Please send 2 bags (strong enough not to break when holding duotangs and supplies, and ideally labeled with sharpie) for this Friday, June 17. Students will begin to pack up and take home their duotangs and belongings!
End of Year Events:
- Yearbook signing is the morning of Thursday, June 23
- End of Year Assembly is 9:00 on Friday, June 24
- Sports Day is the last day with students, the morning of Monday, June 26th.
Class Celebrations will be from 10 to 12 on Friday, June 24th. Our class will be enjoying a Pancake Party with Paulo! We will have one last class sing-along and enjoy plenty of pancakes. If you would like to help contribute "fixins'" (syrup, butter, fruit, yogurt, chocolate chips, etc.), plates, or napkins, please email Elysa at [email protected]. Thank you!
