This morning we shared a beautiful book, "What Does Peace Feel Like?" written in collaboration with children from around the world. We used our five senses to write our own additions to the book, focusing on adding "juicy" words. After recess we shared a smartboard math activity based on subitizing puzzle "chunks" Mrs. Lorway introduced to us. In science we investigated one of our "wonders" about colour: how do we get primary colours if we can't mix them? We looked at a non-fiction book, and learned that a helpful non-fiction book has a table of contents and index to use. We learned that plants, insects, and rocks have been used to get colours! We began ringette stick-handling and passing skills in phys ed. In the afternoon we discussed and showed in our visual journals how we meet our basic needs in our community. We looked at the City of Calgary water treatment website to learn how clean water actually gets to our taps! The students got to do a colouring activity in music, and we ended our day with a little bit of finish-up time.
