This morning we edited our message for missing "ou/ow" words, and observed that there are only 2 days left in February! After literacy centers and guided reading, we did a desk change, and played games to practice basketball chest pass skills in phys ed. After recess we worked on applying "ten buddies" facts to more efficiently add 3 and 4 numbers or quantities. We first used math manipulatives, then a visual ten frame model, then played a game where we practice writing the equations. We got to play it with our grade 4 buddies! In the afternoon we learned more about our sense of touch and finished our "Mindful Feeling" experiment. After music, all of the grade ones came together to learn more about how we hear sound, and finished our Mystery Listening experiment. We finished our day practicing for the upcoming concert!

Words of the Week
Each week we will focus on a set of high frequency words that we are using in our poems and morning message. Feel free to practice these and look for them in your own books! This week we are focusing on "ow" and "ou" (pinchy) pattern chunks.

Please and Thank You!
- Please return Fish Creek Park field trip forms by tomorrow. Since we are spending a good part of the day outside on the 1st, please send students to school dressed for the weather with warm coats, boots, hats, mitts, and snow pants as needed.
- Thank you for returning school Library books for Wednesday (our scheduled weekly exchange time is Wednesday afternoon).
Volunteer Opportunities:
-We are seeking 2 more volunteers to join us for a fun, educational, and outdoorsy day at the Fish Creek Environmental Learning Centre on Thursday, March 1.
- We would love to welcome morning literacy volunteers into our classroom from 8:00 to 8:30 each morning. If there is one morning a week that works for you, wonderful, but drop-ins are always welcome, too! Just let me know the day before, please. This role will involve helping to create sight word rings, as well as reading one-on-one with students
Thank you very much for considering! Please email Elysa ([email protected]) or Danielle ([email protected]) if interested to confirm your availability.
Pink Shirt Day
