We learned that double o (oo!) can make two sounds: like in "noon" and also like in "look." We edited the missing /oo/ chunks in our morning message and added its house to Sound City. We had a sharing circle to help us plan our writing and to give each other feedback for extra interesting adjectives. We wrote about the weekend, continuing our focus on descriptive language and sensory details. After recess we explored this week's "-ot" word family, and viewed some /oo/ videos. Phys ed was a lot of fun -- we began mat and circus equipment stations! Afterward we started a new round of literacy centers and guided reading. In the afternoon we used a number line to help us visualize "one less" facts, and we shared some "one less" (subtracting one) math stories together. We played a card game, and Around the World, to help us practice those facts. Finally, it was time for science! We read a book to learn how our sense of smell works in the body and how it helps us, then observed a bunch of mystery scent samples. It was fun and sometimes challenging to guess what each sample was based on our observations!

Daily Challenge
It was fun to observe and guess the mystery scents in science! Were there any that you got easily? Did any stump you or surprise you?
