This morning we edited our message for bossy r chunks and word wall words. We worked on a "number ninja" challenge to show what we know about estimation, skip counting, comparing quantities, and solving simple addition and subtraction problems. In phys ed we worked on strategizing during Survivor Ball in phys ed. We spent the very hot (but at least nice and breezy!) afternoon trekking through the suburban community of Parkland to look for examples of public art. A highlight was enjoying the playground at Park 96, and juice freezies to cool down afterward! Thank you very much to our volunteers for withstanding the heat and joining us so helpfully!
Tomorrow is Bike to School day!

Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities
***The grade one Urban Community Tour is fast approaching on Tuesday, June 14. We are hoping for 2-4 more volunteers to make it as smooth an experience as possible. It is always a highlight for grade one students and parents, so we hope you can join us! Please email myself or Tara if you can join us -- transportation will be provided.
Bike to School Day
Calgary's Bike to School Day is on tomorrow on Tuesday, June 7. Extra staff will be outside in the morning to help students lock up their bikes.
Library Update
Last week was our last opportunity to sign out books. Our school librarian, Mrs. Cornford, asks that all books be returned the week of June 6th to start organizing for the end of year. The first classes in Div I and Div II to return all of their books will receive a reward!
Fort McMurray Book Drive
The families of Beacon Hill School in Fort McMurray have lost everything. Their principal, Garrett Tebay and her librarian, have asked for our support. They would like to help their families rebuild their home libraries. Prince of Wales can help!! Clean out your bookshelves, order some new books from Scholastic or stop by your local bookstore. Please drop off NEW or Gently Used books at the school. Mrs. Tebay will pick them up when she is in Calgary and deliver them. Thank you for your help!
