This morning we read our new word wall words and figured out where they were missing in our message. We read our new poem, "Numbers, Numbers," that helps us remember how to write each numeral with a catchy rhyme. We used our gel bags to learn how to print a new group of lowercase letters -- half-moon letters. They all start with a magical half-moon 'c.' After recess we played a body spelling game to 'feed' our new word wall words to our word monster, then learned 2 new tag games in phys ed. In the afternoon we had a Mindful Monday 'superstorm' with our other grade one friends to experience mindful tasting. We discovered that things taste better and we feel more relaxed when we slow down and use all 5 senses to enjoy food! After representing 6 in as many ways as we could in math journals, we shared a book, "Plant a Kiss," and watched a short video about spreading kindness. The hard-working grade ones finished their day with a little free center time.
Sight Words (We are working with these to reinforce short vowels, and in weekly poems)

Daily Challenge
We enjoyed our mindful tasting activity today! Like scientists, we took time to observe our grapes (and 1 smartie!) with our senses of sight, touch, smell, hearing, and of course taste. Can you teach your family mindful eating? What food did you try with, and what did you notice or observe?
