This morning we edited our message with new word wall words, and learned a new poem, "Harvest," relating to our experience tomorrow. We body-spelled and fed our new words to the Word Wall Monster, and used gel bags to learn how to print "bounce" letters (r, n, m, h, b, and p). In phys ed we went on some super fun adventure runs to track kilometers for Terry Fox -- we ran 34 km as a collective group! In the afternoon we had a Mindful Monday superstorm to learn about "Biscotti Kid" whole body listening. We showed 10 in as many ways as we could in our math journals, and then joined up for another superstorm to prep for tomorrow's exciting field trip! We shared a book, "The Enormous Potato," about a whole group of people working together to harvest a particularly gigantic vegetable. The grade ones finished their day with popsicle stick buddy time, where we randomly pick popsicle sticks to share books and centers with a new friend each time.

Grow Calgary Field Trip
We are excited for tomorrow's field trip to the Grow Calgary urban farm! The students will be helping harvest fresh produce to feed hungry Calgarians through various compassionate food agencies, including the Food Bank, Inn From the Cold, and the Calgary Drop-In Center.
As of now, tomorrow's forecast is 14 degrees and partly cloudy. Please dress in layers to allow flexibility with the temperature. Students will need comfortable clothes that are okay getting dirty, and sturdy, closed-toed shoes. While Grow Calgary has extra pairs of gardening gloves, students and parents are encouraged to bring their own to use if available. Please pack a litter-free (if possible) lunch and plenty of healthy snacks , as well as a big water bottle. We will have a great day helping our community!
