This morning we edited our message for missing 'half-moon' printed letters. We wrote in our journals about the weekend and shared them by playing "Mystery Author," trying to guess who wrote what! We learned a rhyme to help us remember how to write 5: down and around and then you stop...finish your five with a hat on top! We showed 5 in as many ways as we could in our math journals. The students got a good work out playing "Keep it Moving" with a ton of balls in phys ed! Great teamwork! In the afternoon we had a "superstorm" (like a brainstorm, but BIGGER! All of the grade ones get together!) in Miss Konno's room. We had a great discussion about, "What IS art?" and shared a book, 'The Noisy Paint Box," about Vassily Kandinsky growing up, and how he painted what he heard. The students enjoyed learning about rhythm (tee tees and tahs) in music. We finished our day examining attributes of our animal puppets and sorting them.
