In the morning we learned about the artist Wassily Kandinsky, and how he could hear colours and visualize music. We created colourful overlapping shape art inspired by his expressive abstract shapes, lines, and colours. In phys ed we played our fun hula hoop/beanbag throwing game with both classes -- one of our classmates cleverly suggested we re-name it "Lord of the Rings!" For our first "final five days" treat, we had a movie day! We watched Matilda, which both classes had read aloud earlier this year. For an extra special treat we had popcorn!!!
When we popped our fourth "final five days" balloon at the end of the day we learned that tomorrow will be "a blast from the past!" Hmmm...wonder what that might bring?
Mail Pockets
- Students brought home their French duo tangs (cahiers) today!
Packing Up!
Grade ones will be bringing home the majority their learning materials tomorrow. Please send your child with 1-2 large, sturdy bags to carry their belongings home.
Year End Party
Grade ones will be having a year end celebration the afternoon of Wednesday, June 28. We will enjoy a pajama pancake picnic to celebrate all of their hard work and growth this year. Students are welcome to wear pajamas, and while we will supply the pancakes, we would gratefully welcome contributions of toppings and other supplies. This could include fruit, syrup, yogurt, butter, or chocolate chips, as well as paper plates, napkins, or cutlery. Please email Elysa or Melissa if you would like to bring something -- thank you so much for your help!
Parents volunteers are welcome to attend (please let me know if you are coming). The last half hour of our day we will revisit all of our wonderful Grade One memories with a video.

Daily Challenge
We learned about Wassily Kandinsky, a famous artist who was a synesthete (his senses were connected) and could visualize music. What piece of music or song would you want to turn into art? What colours and shapes would you use?
