Thank you for taking the time to come meet and celebrate your child's progress in grade one! The children have been working so hard and there is much to feel proud of. Thank you also for the eager response to volunteer requests and contributions for classroom activities. We are so lucky to have this incredible, helpful classroom community of families!
Site Update
New on the blog! Click on the "Videos" and "Links" pages on the menu bar at the top of the blog. On these pages I share some favourite videos we have been using to help us learn, and links to websites including Raz Kids and Mathletics.
Room 7 Communication / Contact
Our classroom coordinator this year is Tara Walter. She will help to coordinate volunteers and contributors for in-school events and field trips. If you would like to be added to her contact list in order to receive class updates with upcoming date reminders and volunteer opportunities, please email Tara at [email protected] with your preferred email contact information.
Mail Pockets
- Scholastic flyers (Please return by Thursday, Oct. 29 if interested in ordering)
- Home Reading bags went home if returned
Please and Thank You
- Thank you to those who have offered to contribute pumpkins for our Pumpkin Math inquiry next week! We will be good to go to begin our first related activity on Monday.
Halloween
Next Thursday, the 29th, students are invited to dress in costume for the afternoon. We will be enjoying fun activities, snacks, and a special guest to celebrate Halloween in our classroom!
Volunteer Opportunities
- If you enjoy the messy fun of pumpkins, we will be hollowing out our math exploration pumpkins Wednesday afternoon to collect seeds for estimating. I would very much appreciate 1 or 2 volunteers to help. Please email me if interested!
- I am seeking morning reading volunteers for Monday through Thursday from 8:30-9:00. The students benefit so much from a little extra one-on-one reading time each week, building confidence and a love of reading! This volunteer time may also include supporting letter-sound review, as well as sharing "just right" books. If interested, please email myself ([email protected]) or Tara ([email protected]) with the weekday(s) that works best for you! Thanks very much!
Library Exchange
This week we did not have library exchange because of the book fair, which our class was scheduled to visit during our usual exchange time, Wednesday morning. You can still return your books!
Upcoming Dates
- Oct. 22-23 – Parent/Teacher Conferences; Scholastic Book Fair!
- Oct. 30 – PD Day – NO SCHOOL
- Nov. 25 – Field Trip – Arts Commons
