Highlights of the Day
This morning we edited the very wacky, mixed-up vowels in our message. We looked for rhymes, /ee/, and /ea/ in our weekly poem, then exchanged our library books and home reading. After recess the Sandwich Foundation arrived to help other people in Calgary meet their needs. Can you believe we made 900 sandwiches!? We can do amazing things when we work together!!! Thank you so much to our volunteers. In the afternoon the students made Iris videos in French to show what they know. We began a new math problem that got us thinking and writing about 2-D shapes, as well as size and colour attributes. Tomorrow we will turn that thinking into patterns! We finished our day with 'ketchup / must-do" time to get organized.
Sight Words (We are working with these in our weekly poems)
We continue to focus on ea and ee this week.
In our poem, we are reviewing: the in for all and to
Mail Pockets
- No new mail went home today
- Home Reading/Sight Word Rings (please keep it in the backpack to return each day, even if not done with the current books)
Please and Thank You
- Thank you to our wonderful Sandwich Foundation volunteers who braved some heavy-handed mayonnaise and a very busy 'kitchen!' We could not have done it without you!
-Thank you so much to our fantastic home reading and sight word volunteers for your help! The extra one-on-one time is so beneficial for the students.
Canstruction Food Bank Donations
Canstruction Club has begun with the grade 5 and 6’s who signed up! We will be designing and creating a structure out of non-perishable food items as part of a contest in partner with the Mayor’s 28th Annual Christmas Food Drive for the Calgary Food Bank. The project is called Canstruction Jr. We are asking for donations to help us build our structure and are specifically looking for green items such as cans and boxes that are green in colour. A variety of sizes would be great. Thanks in advance for your support with this! We look forward to showing your our finished product.

Daily Challenge
"Sandwiches are beautiful, sandwiches are fine...." Can you design your DREAM sandwich? Make it extra huge, with a repeating pattern between your bread slices.
(Mine would go: honey mustard, brie cheese, apple, spinach, honey mustard, brie cheese, apple, spinach, honey mustard, brie cheese, apple, spinach. And I'd throw in a pickle somewhere as a sneaky pattern error because they are delicious!)
