After editing our morning message for /sh/ words and showing 6 in as many ways as we could, we hunted for word wall words and /sh/ words in our Shirley Shepherd poem. Afterward we had literacy centers and guided reading. In social studies we learned about The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, discussed what exactly are rights, and had a sharing circle about what rights we feel all children should have. The grade ones were very thoughtful in their responses! In math we learned how to play a very fun game, Race to 100, that helps us understand place value and counting on. We got to play it again at the end of the day with our grade 3/4 buddies! In the afternoon the students had 'cahier' time in French, and after reviewing tints and shades, we got to explore them with paint in our visual journals! We are excited to apply this in tomorrow's art project.
Friendly reminder: tomorrow is Fun Lunch, Walking Wednesday, and library exchange!

Mail Pockets
- No new mail went home today. Also, I apologize, we were tidying up our painting and I forgot to set aside time for home reading exchange as we would normally have.
- Home Reading/Sight Word Rings (please keep it in the backpack to return each day, even if not done with the current books)
Please and Thank You
-Thank you so much to our fantastic home reading and sight word volunteers for your help! The extra one-on-one time is so beneficial for the students.
- I would gratefully welcome an extra adult or two Wednesday afternoon for our tints and shades painting project! Please email me if interested.

Daily Challenge
We learned that all children from around the world have rights that should be respected, no matter where you live, what you believe in, and if you are a boy or a girl. What rights do you think are most important for all children to have?
