Let the week of celebrating 100th day begin!! This morning we beat our record playing "I Have, Who Has." We are getting very quick at recognizing numbers to 30 with place value visuals! We then learned how to play "Race to 100" using the base ten blocks and a place value organizer. After recess we did some 100-inspired writing, about what we wish we had 100 of, and what we do not want 100 of. Awesome work from the grade ones...we had a lot of fun playing Mystery Author with these! In Phys Ed we learned a new warm-up game, Opposites, and played Circle Soccer (which actually uses only hands!) to help our volleyball skills. In the afternoon the students worked on colour bookmarks in French. We spent the rest of the afternoon getting to know, and enjoying, our 100th Day centers.

Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities
- We would love to have morning reading volunteers to share books with students one-on-one, from 8:30-9:00 any day that it works for you!
- Thank you SO much for all of the help and support you consistently offer. I am amazed by the volunteer response we get in this classroom!
Feb. 18th - 100th Day of School Celebration:
I recognize (and apologize!) that February is a more request-heavy month, and sincerely appreciate your contributions! We will be concocting 100th Day Trail Mix on Thursday, February 18th. We ask that students please bring in a small-sized, non-nut snack item to contribute (roughly 2 or 3 cups should be fine), as well as an egg carton cut down to 10 cups (serving as a ten frame). Students will measure out ten pieces of ten different snacks to enjoy a trail mix of exactly 100! Thank you for your help. The students love to be math chefs!
Some ideas for ingredients include, but are not limited to:

Please email Elysa or Tara if you would like to sign up for a particular item. We would like to avoid nut-based products for allergy precautions, please. Thank you so much for your support and contributions!

Daily Challenge
Today we wrote about what we wish we had 100 of...and what we do not want 100 of. Very creative responses! What is something you think you do have at least 100 of? How do you know? (I know we have at least 100 pencil crayons in our classroom, because they came in boxes of 24, and we have more than 23 boxes! It only takes 5 boxes to make up over 100 pencil crayons!)
