It was nice to have a more normal schedule today, with a break from rehearsals before the big concert. We edited our morning message for missing words, then body-spelled, read, and 'fed' our new words to the word wall. We played with the 'et' word family, and began our new round of literacy centers. After recess we did Author's Chair to extend our convincing details from yesterday's writing, and had a yoga adventure with Eric Carle's "Polar Bear, Polar Bear" for phys ed. In math we began a word problem about a squirrel who buries peanuts and acorns in my garden. In the afternoon the students had French, then we did some more sharing of family memories and read a book about why families are important. We finished our day with PoWer Hour!
Please double check at home tonight that you have your colourful (but solid, no logos or patterns) t-shirt and dark pants ready for later this week! :)
Sight Words (We are working with these in our weekly poem)
We are focusing on "bossy r" and how it turns 'e,' 'i' and 'u' into growling pirate sounds!

Concert Info
We are getting excited for the upcoming school concert performances! The students are working very hard and sounding great! Students are asked to attend their performances wearing a solid-coloured (no prints or logos) yellow, orange, red, or green t-shirt, and dark pants. If you do not have a solid coloured t-shirt, you could always try turning one with a small graphic inside out and that should do the trick. Thank you for helping them to prepare!
Students with last names A-L will be performing Wednesday evening. There will also be an A-L dress rehearsal Wednesday morning at 9:00 am. Students with last names M-Z will be performing Thursday evening, with a dress rehearsal Thursday afternoon at 1:00 pm. Relatives who are not attending the evening performance are welcome to attend the dress rehearsals! :)
"Caring for pets creates caring calm people”
Our pet funds from the popcorn drive have been depleted. Please help us provide for our wonderful school pets by contributing a loonie or a twoonie when you come for our amazing Spring Concert. Any donations are gratefully appreciated. And remember to sign up fro a weekend bunny visit if you have a bunny safe home.
Thank you,
Room 10 and all the bunny researchers from Power of Pets
