Thank you for helping to make a wonderfully active, eco-conscious Bike to School Day! This morning we worked on our shape and space math centers. After recess we had a little poetry party, then very much enjoyed a visit to learn about the newly hatched ducklings in Kindergarten! We got to watch them splash and play in pools outside, and learned that they love blueberries (a healthy alternative to bread, which is actually dangerous for ducks). In the afternoon the students played 4 corners in French, and enjoyed some shared reading time. We finished our day with a grade 1 superstorm to prep for next week's much anticipated Urban Community Tour! We talked about important Calgary landmarks, and learned songs to help us understand their history.
Mail Pockets
Urban Community Tour field trip forms went home. Please return by Monday.
Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities
***The grade one Urban Community Tour is fast approaching on Tuesday, June 14. We are hoping for 2-4 more volunteers to make it as smooth an experience as possible. It is always a highlight for grade one students and parents, so we hope you can join us! Please email myself or Tara if you can join us -- transportation will be provided.
Hot Weather
We are experiencing very hot weather this week! Temperatures are already high by morning recess. Please send your child with hats, sunscreen, and water each day to help us keep them safe in the sun.
Library Update
Last week was our last opportunity to sign out books. Our school librarian, Mrs. Cornford, asks that all books be returned the week of June 6th to start organizing for the end of year. The first classes in Div I and Div II to return all of their books will receive a reward!
Fort McMurray Book Drive
The families of Beacon Hill School in Fort McMurray have lost everything. Their principal, Garrett Tebay and her librarian, have asked for our support. They would like to help their families rebuild their home libraries. Prince of Wales can help!! Clean out your bookshelves, order some new books from Scholastic or stop by your local bookstore. Please drop off NEW or Gently Used books at the school. Mrs. Tebay will pick them up when she is in Calgary and deliver them. Thank you for your help!

Daily Challenge(s)
We are excited for our Urban Community Tour! We will begin it with a "sky-high scavenger hunt" to look out and explore Calgary's landmarks. What is your favourite Calgary landmark, and why?
Public art makes our communities more beautiful, interesting, and tells stories. What was an example of public art you saw on yesterday's walk? Why was it interesting, or what story did it tell?
