After editing our morning message for missing /sh/ chunks, we had literacy centers and guided reading. We read our new poem, "Shirley Shepherd," in different silly voices and practiced finger tracking. In phys ed we went on a fitness imagination adventure to somewhere much warmer -- a beach in Mexico! In math we worked on a different word problem to apply our knowledge of repeating patterns and counting or adding quantities. In the afternoon the students had music, then Ms. Ann the occupational therapist came to do a presentation on personal space, and what is expected or unexpected behaviour with personal space and touching. We finished our day with social studies, learning about responsibilities. We know that with every right, we have a responsibility, too, so that others can enjoy the same rights. We played a charades game acting out responsibilities we have at home, at school, and to our world.

Words of the Week
Each week we will focus on a set of high frequency words that we are using in our poems and morning message. Feel free to practice these and look for them in your own books! This week we are focused on the /sh/ digraph.

Volunteer Opportunities:
- We would love to welcome morning literacy volunteers into our classroom from 8:00 to 8:30 each morning. If there is one morning a week that works for you, wonderful, but drop-ins are always welcome, too! Just let me know the day before, please. This role will involve helping to create sight word rings, as well as reading one-on-one with students
Thank you very much for considering! Please email Elysa ([email protected]) or Danielle ([email protected]) if interested to confirm your availability.
Please and Thank You!
- Thank you for sending in magazines for our upcoming collaged colour wheels in science!
