This morning we edited our message for missing "ow" and "ou" chunks. We talked about how to safely practice a lockdown and the grade ones did a responsible job practicing with just our class. After doing "author's chair" to reflect on our writing samples, we worked on polishing and finishing them up. After recess we did literacy centers, then played Newcomb Ball in phys ed. In the afternoon the students learned "Frere Jacques" in French, then we looked for number chunks and arrangements we could see in 100 dot arrays. We finished our day with a grade one 'superstorm' (when all 3 classes are together), to start thinking about the 5 senses. We used all 5 senses to help us fully experience and imagine a tropical beach paradise!
Friendly reminder -- please return library books tomorrow in order to exchange for a new one.
Mail Pockets
- No new notices went home, so mail pockets remained at school.
Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities
- We are trying out literacy centres a little differently this week, having our neighbouring classes work separately, for smaller groups. Volunteer support would be GREATLY appreciated! Our class is doing literacy centres Wednesday 9:15 - 10:00, Thursday 1:30 - 2:15, and Friday 9:15 - 10:00. Please email me ([email protected]) if any of these times work…but drop-ins are always welcome, too!
- We would love to have morning reading volunteers to share books with students one-on-one, from 8:30-9:00 any day that it works for you!
- Thank you SO much for all of the help and support you consistently offer. I am amazed by (and extremely grateful for) the volunteer response we get in this classroom!
Byblo’s Visit – Feb. 25th
Thank you very much for generously offering to contribute ingredients for Thursday's 9:30 presentation! We have a wide variety of healthy choices coming in. The children are going to have a blast learning about and playing with nutrition.
Feb. 24 - Pink Shirt Day
We encourage everyone to openly express that “Kindness is one size fits all”. We all have the capacity to spread kindness and that is the underlying philosophy behind our anti-bullying movement: a movement we hope lives year round beyond Pink Shirt Day. After all, kindness never goes out of style.
