This morning we edited our message for digraphs, th, ch, and sh. We learned that tomorrow is UNICEF's National Day of Child Rights, and talked about what rights are. The students made Iris videos of what rights they think all children should have. After recess we read some more about how colours and dyes are made from natural objects, and learned a new poem, the Cat in the Hat's "Rainbow Song." The students did a great job in their last round of this week's literacy centers. In phys ed, we were lucky enough to have Mrs. Hammond (grade 5 teacher) who is a Team Canada ringette coach (!!) give us some pointers. We practiced the skills she taught us in a ringette variation of "Clean Up Your Backyard." In the afternoon we played a repeating pattern game where we had to figure out the repeating core to detect the missing element! The grade ones did a fabulous job! We read a poem, "If You Could Wear My Sneakers," about how child rights apply to ALL children, no matter who they are and what they look like. We also watched and discussed various mini-videos created by different nations about several of the UN children's rights. We finished our day with some free reading and patterning time. Remember -- no school for students tomorrow! Have a good weekend!

Daily Challenge
We have learned about rights and responsibilities, and how they balance each other. For example, we have a right to feel safe at school, but a responsibility to help make it a safe place for everyone. What is a right you have, and what is a responsibility that balances it?
