After we body spelled each of this week's sneaky, sly y words and fed them to the word wall, we challenged ourselves to edit them into the morning message without looking at the words to help us! We had literacy centers and guided reading, then explored the punctuation in our "Wonderful World" poem. We learned that the wacky new punctuation in it is called a semicolon. After recess we revised our poem. We added the interesting adjectives it was lacking to make it much 'juicier!' In phys ed we worked on building gymnastics routines, then had time to exchange our library books. In the afternoon the students had French, then we played a new game, Plus One Bump, to reinforce our "one more" fact fluency. Since we have been working on showing addition facts both vertically and horizontally, we then challenged ourselves to solve as many 'one more' equations as we could in 5 minutes. We finished our day with some "ketchup/must-do" and free center time.

Gymnastics Attire
We are loving gymnastics! Please help your child prepare for gymnastics each day with comfy, easy-to-move-in clothing, and for safety, no long or dangly jewelry. Students remove their shoes during gymnastics -- barefoot is recommended but they can choose to keep their socks on (especially if they have an infection or warts on their feet). If students have longer hair, please have hair tied back (or send an elastic). Thanks for your help!
Mail Pockets
-Mail pockets stayed at school

Daily Challenge
We have been working on our estimation skills and our 'one more' facts in math. When might it be useful in life to be able to estimate well? Why and when would it be useful to quickly know what is "one more" than something?
