This morning we edited our message for missing short vowel -ck chunks, and learned that we are in for a math treat! We solved a math problem about sharing a cake with equal amounts for two people by using our doubles facts, and later in the afternoon we used our facts to double the recipe. We are excited to bake the doubled recipe tomorrow to share with our grade 4 buddies! The grade ones wrote their next-to-last drafts for our Family Traditions cookbook, focusing on the "story" to convince readers to try their recipes. The students learned about Irish clogging in music class and we finished our day with our best-yet concert practice!

Words of the Week
Each week we will focus on a set of high frequency words that we are using in our poems and morning message. Feel free to practice these and look for them in your own books! This week we are focusing on "igh' and comparing it to "ite."

Please and Thank You!
- Thank you for returning school Library books for Wednesday (our scheduled weekly exchange time is Wednesday afternoon).
Volunteer Opportunities:
- We would gratefully welcome help with the publishing stage of our Grade One Family Traditions cookbook. Please email Elysa if you are interested in coming in to help assemble and coil-bind books (most likely the week before spring break, timing can be flexible). Thanks!
- We would love to welcome morning literacy volunteers into our classroom from 8:00 to 8:30 each morning. If there is one morning a week that works for you, wonderful, but drop-ins are always welcome, too! Just let me know the day before, please. This role will involve helping to create sight word rings, as well as reading one-on-one with students
Thank you very much for considering! Please email Elysa ([email protected]) or Danielle ([email protected]) if interested to confirm your availability.
Spring Concert Information
We are excited to present our Spring Performance of Water Dance on March 21st and 22nd. The staff and students have been working hard on songs, dances, and artwork.
Students with last names beginning with A to L will perform on Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night.
Students with last names beginning with M to Z will perform on Thursday morning and Thursday night.
We ask that the students wear blue or green shirts without any letters, images, or logos and dark pants.
***If your child is not able to attend the evening performance, please contact your child's teacher and let them know. Tickets went home last week.
