This morning we edited all of the missing 'super, magic e' words in our morning message, then had literacy centers and guided reading. We had a poetry party to revisit old favourite poems and practice our finger tracking. In phys ed we taught the kindergartens our partner ring soccer game, using ringette sticks instead of kicking. After recess we learned about what the Calgary Food Bank does for the community, as our school is participating in some food drives. We then applied our knowledge of repeating patterns to solve a math problem about food bank collections, with a focus showing our thought process. In the afternoon we had our second-last PoWer Hour session, then music. After celebrating our friend Elliott's birthday, we finished our day with the next step of our repeating pattern art project.
Friendly reminder that there is no school for students tomorrow, just for teachers!

Words of the Week
Each week we will focus on a set of high frequency words that we are using in our poems and morning message. Feel free to practice these and look for them in your own books! This week we are focused on "Magic, Super e!"

Volunteer Opportunities:
- We would love to welcome morning literacy volunteers into our classroom from 8:00 to 8:30 each morning. If there is one morning a week that works for you, wonderful, but drop-ins are always welcome, too! Just let me know the day before, please. This role will involve helping to create sight word rings, as well as reading one-on-one with students
Thank you very much for considering! Please email Elysa ([email protected]) or Danielle ([email protected]) if interested to confirm your availability.
Please and Thank You!
- Please consider contributing used magazines for a down-the-road collage project exploring the colour wheel in science.

Daily Challenge
We have been exploring magic, super e the past couple weeks. This is when a silent e at the end of a word reaches over one consonant to tap the vowel on its head and make it say its name! Can you create a sentence (or, bonus, a short poem!) full of as many super, magic e words as possible?
