This morning Ms. M (our practicum student Ed Assistant) wrote us our morning message! Sadly, tomorrow is her last day. We spent the first part of our morning with our grade four buddies. After sharing another twisted tale, "The Boy Who Cried Bigfoot," the students began writing their first twisted tale draft using a one word story method. After recess we talked about subtracting to find the "difference," and played 'Salute' focusing on difference rather than sums. We played 2 different versions of Restaurant Wars in phys ed to burn off some energy! In the afternoon the students played "Lucy Locket" in music, then finished up their Top Calgary Landmarks journaling. We finished our day with a Paulo sing-along, enjoying songs that help us learn about Calgary's history and prepare us for next week's Urban Community Tour!
Please note: tomorrow we will be sending our plants home to transplant!

Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities
***The grade one Urban Community Tour is fast approaching on Tuesday, June 14. We are hoping for 1-3 more volunteers to make it as smooth an experience as possible. It is always a highlight for grade one students and parents, so we hope you can join us! Please email myself or Tara if you can join us -- transportation will be provided.
Library Update
Last week was our last opportunity to sign out books. Our school librarian, Mrs. Cornford, asks that all books be returned the week of June 6th to start organizing for the end of year. The first classes in Div I and Div II to return all of their books will receive a reward!
Fort McMurray Book Drive - last day tomorrow!
The families of Beacon Hill School in Fort McMurray have lost everything. Their principal, Garrett Tebay and her librarian, have asked for our support. They would like to help their families rebuild their home libraries. Prince of Wales can help!! Clean out your bookshelves, order some new books from Scholastic or stop by your local bookstore. Please drop off NEW or Gently Used books at the school. Mrs. Tebay will pick them up when she is in Calgary and deliver them. Thank you for your help!
