This morning we edited our message for missing long squealy e chunks (ee, ea, and stand-alone e). The students were very excited for computer time! In addition to Raz Kids and Mme Pallesen's blog, they got to explore pattern and sorting games (in the post below), but unfortunately the games were not cooperative on all of the school computers, so feel free to try them at home as well. After recess we used gel bags to learn how to print the "mountain" group of letters: v, w, y, x, and z. They are pretty fun to act out! We had our second round of literacy centers, then played tag games and "Squirrels and Nuts" in phys ed. In the afternoon the students explored tempo and comparison of two versions of "Five Little Pumpkins" during music. We had fun trying out the rekenreks we crafted yesterday. We played a game called Guess My Way, exploring the different ways to add up to a given number (we used ten today). After sharing a very funny book, "School Picture Day," we revisited sorting groups where one set does not belong. The students began 'shopping' through grocery flyers to make sets of items that share attributes, and one sneaky set that is not like the others!
