Congratulations to the grade ones (and all of the students!) for performing beautifully at our school drumming celebration! What a treat that was. After recess we continued with literacy centers, then enjoyed our last drumming session. We went on a jungle yoga adventure in phys ed. In the afternoon we examined more artwork by Paul Klee and M.C. Escher that utilize repeating patterns. The students noticed multiple patterns and multiple attributes that I had not seen myself! Afterward they made repeating pattern design cards to thank our guest designer, Sara, and show what they had learned from her. They then worked collaboratively to create a class 3-D repeating pattern art piece out of many manipulatives in our room. We finished our day with a nutrition presentation from some grade sixes, and a mini-poetry party.

Learning Commons Idea Lab
Our Idea Lab is taking shape and we are so very excited to see progress happening daily. We are so excited to get our kids in there and start building, exploring and designing new and innovative things that help solve real-life problems in a creative way. There is a way you can help! On the Idea Lab website, http://powidealab.weebly.com there is a new page that features “Our Wishlist”. This is a spot where you can see what we are in need of to make our Idea Lab a really cool place to learn. Please contact Mme Bergerman if you have any questions about this process or something you’d like to donate. Thanks so much for all you do for us!

Daily Challenge
We loved drumming! Can you teach your family about the language? (Gun, dun, go, do). What do those words mean? How do they tell us where to put our hands?
