We had a full and fun day! We started with a really interesting social studies discussion, comparing photos of artifacts from the past (from 30 - 130 years ago!). We even learned a little bit about what it was like in a very strict one room schoolhouse one hundred years ago. The students showed changes they have experienced in their own lives from the past to the present in their visual journals. We continued working with inverse relationships (fact families) in math. The end of the day was a treat because we had buddy time! We shared a 'twisted' fairy tale ("The Three Ninja Pigs") with our grade 4 buddies, and brainstormed important components of a fairy tale to begin composing our own twisted tales together.
Please note that tomorrow is a PD day. Enjoy the long weekend and see you Tuesday!

Fort McMurray Book Drive
The families of Beacon Hill School in Fort McMurray have lost everything. Their principal, Garrett Tebay and her librarian, have asked for our support. They would like to help their families rebuild their home libraries. Prince of Wales can help!! Clean out your bookshelves, order some new books from Scholastic or stop by your local bookstore. Please drop off NEW or Gently Used books at the school. Mrs. Tebay will pick them up when she is in Calgary and deliver them. Thank you for your help!
Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities
We would gratefully welcome 1 more volunteer to join us on a Suburban Community Tour around our school's neighborhood on Monday, June 6.
***The grade one Urban Community Tour will be on Tuesday, June 14. This is a while away, but we are hoping for 8 more volunteers to make it as smooth an experience as possible. It is always a highlight for grade one students and parents, so we hope you can join us!
