This morning we practiced our half-moon letters by printing them with our fingers in salt! The grade ones are becoming excellent printers! We played our ten frame subitizing game in math in small groups, too. After recess we read "My Map Book," and talked about how maps can show and organize many different things (not just places!). We created maps of our families in our visual journals. We played "Clean Up Your Back Yard" in phys ed -- so much fun! In the afternoon the students enjoyed music with Mrs. Dennill, and learned a song about keeping the beat. We then showed 'four' in as many ways as we could in math journals. Remember: down and over, then down some more, that's the way to make a four! We finished our day doing another sort and sorting map, and enjoying a little center time!
Mail Pockets
-Milk Program notices (oldest and only, beige paper)
-CCASA Brochure (oldest and only)
- Who Do You Tell consent form (all grade ones)
Terry Fox Run Tomorrow!
Please wear red to show your spirit if possible (but don't worry if you don't have any red clothing!). You will want comfy shoes for running and walking, and a coat if the weather is chilly. You can bring a toonie for Terry if you'd like to donate, too!
* Parents, please discuss with your child and send a sticky-note with someone's name if there is a particular person they might be running for. All students will get an "I'm Running For..." sticker to wear tomorrow. *
Please and Thank You
- Please return all school forms, volunteer forms, and coupon book packages (whether ordering or not) at your earliest convenience.
- If you have spare phonebooks at home, please consider sending them in (ideally, two stacked together and wrapped in duct tape, please and thank you!). We use these as a tool for children's seated posture, as many of the students' feet don't yet reach the ground in grade one.
Volunteer Opportunities
- Folding and assembling pizza boxes as art portfolios (later in the week, or next week)
Library Books
Our class visits the Learning Commons on Wednesday mornings. If your child would like to exchange their current book for a new one, please return by Wednesday.
