We started our day with a special guest, Mrs. Lorway! She is a math expert (artist in residence) who is working a Prince of Wales over the next little while. We sorted, explored and puzzled with "chunks" of 1, 2, and 3 squares. After editing our morning message, we practiced printing our half moon letters, this time with pencils and paper! For each letter we used our play-doh to create, give hints, and guess each other's items starting with that letter sound. In phys ed we played "Keep it Moving" and "Clean Up Your Backyard." It was challenging to roll the balls instead of kicking them! In the afternoon the students enjoyed French with Mme Pallesen (remember to check out her blog each week -- it is incredible and full of online videos!). We showed 6 in as many ways as we could in our math journals. A little rhyme to remember: Just a curve , then a loop, there are no tricks! A curve and a loop will make a six! We finished our day taking another look at "My Map Book." In our visual journals we created maps of our hearts! These grade ones are pretty full of love!

Daily Challenge
Wow, I am so impressed with the blog comments! Way to participate!!! :)
We learned with Mrs. Lorway that "puzzling" is a very important part of doing math! What is a way you do puzzling (exploring how things fit together) in your everyday life? (It could be when you are playing, working, anything!). Why is it important?
