This morning our wacky message was missing all of the punctuation! After editing it and trading our ones for another group of ten in our school day count, we did another fun making/breaking words puzzle. This time the mystery phrase (that all of the letters formed) was...lemonade stand! In math the students had a challenge to create a super shape with exactly 13 sides, then calculate the cost using the Shape Shop values. It was a good brainteaser for us! In phys ed we got to play one of our very favourite games, Restaurant Wars, including a rather hilarious bum-scooting variation. In the afternoon the students had music, then we ventured to the ridge one last time to observe summer seasonal changes. We had a blast chasing bubbles, getting shoes down from trees, and enjoying delicious freezies when we got back. Thank you so much to our fantastic volunteers for joining us and making the bubbles happen! At the end of the day we got to pop the first of our "Final Five Countdown" balloons... tomorrow is a movie day! In the afternoon we will watch Matilda, based on the novel we enjoyed so much earlier this year. The students are excited!

Year End Party
Grade ones will be having a year end celebration the afternoon of Wednesday, June 28. We will enjoy a pajama pancake picnic to celebrate all of their hard work and growth this year. Students are welcome to wear pajamas, and while we will supply the pancakes, we would gratefully welcome contributions of toppings and other supplies. This could include fruit, syrup, yogurt, butter, or chocolate chips, as well as paper plates, napkins, or cutlery. Please email Elysa or Melissa if you would like to bring something -- thank you so much for your help!
Parents volunteers are welcome to attend (please let me know if you are coming). The last half hour of our day we will revisit all of our wonderful Grade One memories with a video.
Packing Up!
Grade ones will be bringing home the majority their learning materials on Friday. Please send your child with 1-2 large, sturdy bags to carry their belongings home.
