After editing our message for wacky magic, super e words, we counted our 47th day of school and practiced making 7 in many ways with both pictures and number equations. After literacy centers and guided reading we did our "punctuation punch" with the Magic, Super E poem. Then, in phys ed we burned off some steam playing a fun partner "ring soccer" game. After recess we explored a very interesting book, "Material World," which shares photographs and documentation of all of various families' possessions from different places around the world. It was fascinating to see different ways people meet their needs, and we realized how many 'wants' we are lucky have compared to many people in other countries. Learning that a $2 donation to the Sandwich Foundation can feed 1 homeless person, we dreamed big during our journal writing -- if we had unlimited money, how would we help the community or the world? In the afternoon we exchanged our library books, then in math we worked in pairs to extend a pattern core that our partner made. It is more challenging to extend a pattern to the left! We finished our day beginning an art project applying our understanding of repeating patterns, as well as warm and cool colours.

Words of the Week
Each week we will focus on a set of high frequency words that we are using in our poems and morning message. Feel free to practice these and look for them in your own books! This week we are focused on "Magic, Super e!"

Volunteer Opportunities:
- We would love to welcome morning literacy volunteers into our classroom from 8:00 to 8:30 each morning. If there is one morning a week that works for you, wonderful, but drop-ins are always welcome, too! Just let me know the day before, please. This role will involve helping to create sight word rings, as well as reading one-on-one with students
Thank you very much for considering! Please email Elysa ([email protected]) or Danielle ([email protected]) if interested to confirm your availability.
Please and Thank You!
- Please consider contributing used magazines for a down-the-road collage project exploring the colour wheel in science.
