This morning we edited the very wacky, mixed-up vowels in our message. We worked on identifying beginning, middle, and end sounds in words, and listening for where short 'a' happened in words. Then we went to the library to sign out books for the first time this year (our library day is Wednesday, so please return by then to exchange a new one). After recess we tried printing our half-moon letters with a pencil and paper, and using play-doh to create things that start with each of those letter. In Phys Ed we had a lot of sweaty fun going on an adventure run to log kilometers for Terry Fox. As a class, we collectively ran 32 kilometers today! We cooled down with math, learning to print 8 and showing it as many ways as we could. In the afternoon the students did such an amazing job in music, they all got 'happy notes!' After a 'snackerstorm' (snack superstorm) with the other grade ones to share a book, "The Change Your Name Store," we celebrated our names by making colourful splatter paint initial artwork. Don't worry, we used washable tempera paint! :) We finished the day celebrating our friend's birthday.
Sight Words (We are working with these to reinforce short vowels, and in weekly poems)
