We edited our very wacky spelling and backwards letters in the morning message, then shared a very cute book, "Friendshape," by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. This got us thinking about the attributes of shapes -- how many sides and vertices -- and after some exploration time with pattern shape blocks, we played a mystery shape game on the smart board. We exchanged our library books, and learned a new sound chunk for our Sound City I street: 'igh.' We also learned a new song for our poetry duotangs, "The Needs of a Plant." Our plants are certainly getting their needs met, as they are growing almost as fast as grade ones! In the afternoon the students enjoyed some tech time on our blog links for all of their hard work. After some more math time playing Salute, we finished our day doing a health 'superstorm' about thankfulness and sharing with friends.

PoWer Hour Showcase
Friday will be an opportunity to check out your child's PoWer Hour! The showcase portion will take place from 11:15 - 11:45 on Friday morning. If you have more than one child to go visit, siblings can accompany you to watch their brother or sister once you have 'checked them out' of their PoWer Hour group.
Fort McMurray Book Drive
The families of Beacon Hill School in Fort McMurray have lost everything. Their principal, Garrett Tebay and her librarian, have asked for our support. They would like to help their families rebuild their home libraries. Prince of Wales can help!! Clean out your bookshelves, order some new books from Scholastic or stop by your local bookstore. Please drop off NEW or Gently Used books at the school. Mrs. Tebay will pick them up when she is in Calgary and deliver them. Thank you for your help!
