This morning we edited our very wacky message for spelling and backward letters. We finished our last round of shape, shape, and measurement centers, and enjoyed some math game time. After recess the students recorded their plant observations and had some "ketchup/must-do" time before phys ed. The afternoon was a social studies exploration of Calgary landmarks. We first brainstormed a pretty full bank of favourite landmarks, then used Google Earth on the laptops to take a closer look. After looking at Avenue Magazine and Tripadvisor articles for inspiration, the students created their own "Top Calgary Landmarks" pages in their visual journals, about which places tourists ought to visit and why.

Please and Thank You / Volunteer Opportunities
***The grade one Urban Community Tour is fast approaching on Tuesday, June 14. We are hoping for 2-4 more volunteers to make it as smooth an experience as possible. It is always a highlight for grade one students and parents, so we hope you can join us! Please email myself or Tara if you can join us -- transportation will be provided.
Hot Weather
We are experiencing some hot weather this week! Temperatures are already high by morning recess. Please send your child with hats, sunscreen, and water each day to help us keep them safe in the sun.
Library Update
Last week was our last opportunity to sign out books. Our school librarian, Mrs. Cornford, asks that all books be returned the week of June 6th to start organizing for the end of year. The first classes in Div I and Div II to return all of their books will receive a reward!
Fort McMurray Book Drive
The families of Beacon Hill School in Fort McMurray have lost everything. Their principal, Garrett Tebay and her librarian, have asked for our support. They would like to help their families rebuild their home libraries. Prince of Wales can help!! Clean out your bookshelves, order some new books from Scholastic or stop by your local bookstore. Please drop off NEW or Gently Used books at the school. Mrs. Tebay will pick them up when she is in Calgary and deliver them. Thank you for your help!
