This morning we edited our Wacky Wednesday message for mixed-up long-i words and practiced our word wall words with mystery back-printing and body spelling. We were so lucky, we had two drumming sessions today since we are missing ours for the field trip tomorrow! In phys ed we enjoyed a dance party to burn off steam, then had literacy centers and guided reading. In the afternoon we exchanged our library books, then played Doubles Walk the Plank and a smartboard game in math to practice our doubles facts. We finished our day with a grade one concert rehearsal.

Words of the Week
Each week we will focus on a set of high frequency words that we are using in our poems and morning message. Feel free to practice these and look for them in your own books! This week we are focusing on "igh' and comparing it to "ite."
sight quite write right might high
Please and Thank You!
- Please pack a filling lunch and snacks with all necessary utensils for tomorrow's field trip!
- If your child accidentally brought home their copy of their family tradition recipe, or did not bring one initially, please send it back by Wednesday to be published in the Grade One Traditions cookbook.
- Please email Mrs. Morin to notify if your family is leaving early for Spring Break and will miss the school concert (so that we can be prepared with narrators and numbers)
- Thank you for returning school Library books for Wednesday (our scheduled weekly exchange time is Wednesday afternoon).
Drumming Residency Sharing Time
The kindergartens, grade ones, and grade fours will benefit from an exciting drumming residency this week! We will be sharing what we have learned Friday morning, and families are welcome to come watch. The sharing time is from 8:00 to 8:45 in the gym.
Volunteer Opportunities:
- We would love to welcome morning literacy volunteers into our classroom from 8:00 to 8:30 each morning. If there is one morning a week that works for you, wonderful, but drop-ins are always welcome, too! Just let me know the day before, please. This role will involve helping to create sight word rings, as well as reading one-on-one with students
Thank you very much for considering! Please email Elysa ([email protected]) or Danielle ([email protected]) if interested to confirm your availability.
